Fort San Cristobal, San Juan, PR
|
Chapel located in main area of fort. Also to note that since
there was not a source of fresh water at this location the
Spanish used a cistern to store rain water. This cistern would
hold enough water to support the fort for over a year. This
could be where the first rumor of "Don't drink the water" came
from. When the British were going to take the fort from the
Spanish, the Spanish polluted the cistern with human waste.
This bunker was built during WWII to watch for German
U-Boats
Graffiti from the past. This drawing is located in the dungeon.
A very miserable place. I was in there about ten minutes. It
was very hot and humid. With the door closed the only light or
fresh air source was a very small opening at the end. You
could barely see your hand in front of you.
